REDLANDS — Hugh Pegan set a personal record in the 100m and the Occidental men's 4x100m relay ran the fifth fastest time in the country at the Redlands Last Chance Qualifying Meet on Thursday.
Pegan, the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Year, ran 10.60, the 11th best mark in NCAA Division III this year and fourth best mark all-time in Oxy program history.
Pegan, a sophomore from Ukiah who was named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2015, won the 100m, 200m and 4x400m at the SCIAC Championship meet, and placed second in the 4x100m.
Fellow sprinter Kyle Dalton also had a big day, breaking 11 seconds in the 100m (10.84) and 22 seconds in the 200m (21.89) for the first time in his career.
The Tigers have seven men that have qualified for the NCAA National Championship in Waverly, Iowa next week.
