Women's Golf Records Lowest Round in Program History

VENTURA — In her first major competition of her collegiate career, first year Anna Lundquist shot a 3-over 147 in the two-round California State Intercollegiate Championship at Olivas Links GC on Monday and Tuesday.

As a group, the Oxy women's team finished 7th out of 11 competitve nationally ranked NCAA Division III teams and a few NAIA scholarship schools, shooting 645.

The Tigers' opening round of 319 on Monday set the record for the lowest four-person total in Oxy history.

Lundquist, who had rounds of 72 and 75, finished fourth overal. She already made news in the Tigers' season-opening dual match against Marymount when she shot a 78 and was co-medalist with sophomore Nicole Henderson.

Samantha Rocha had a terrific opening round of 74 and finished with Oxy's second-best total at 160 despite illness.

Henderson was third for Oxy with a 169 and Katy Uchiyama rounded out the Tigers' four scorers with a 173.

"To have players in the low 70s at such a challenging golf course was a indicator of things to come for our program," Oxy head golf coach Will Morris said. "The future is bright and we're excited to see how the team develops and progresses."

Oxy concludes its Fall season with a showdown against Claremont, Pomona-Pitzer and Whittier in the CMS Invitational.
