LOS ANGELES — The Occidental golf teams swept the weekly SCIAC awards.
Senior captain of the women's team Samantha Rocha and senior captain of the men's team Samuel Miller each won the SCIAC Player of the Week honors after leading the Tigers to a dual-match victory over Macalester last Friday.
Rocha has been recognized on and off the course, and recently was profiled by the SCGA as the COPi Cup Scholar.
"Sam is so deserving and she's been a great leader for the past four years," Oxy head coach Will Morris said. "How she continues to play so well and balance a rigorous school schedule, helping on campus and in the community, while playing championship golf, is an inspiration."
Miller led the Tigers with a 74 and at times in his career has been arguably one of the best NCAA Division III golfers in the country.
"Tee to green, I don't think there's a better golfer in the nation," Morris said. "Sam is passionate about the game and works so hard. I'm glad his dedication and outstanding play are being acknowledged."
The Oxy men are currently in competition at the prestigious West Cup and the Oxy women are back in action on Friday, playing at the UC Santa Cruz Invitational.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
