ORANGE -- Sierra Slack went off for seven goals and an assist, breaking the Occidental women's lacrosse career points record as the Tigers dismantled Chapman 21-10 on the road on Saturday.
Slack, a senior captain from Vorhees, N.J., passed Tori Larson's '14 previous record of 219 career points. Slack is a perennial All-SCIAC and All-Region selection who has started all 57 games in her career.
Ciara Byrne also had a big day on offense for Oxy, totaling a career-high seven goals for the Tigers. Alessandra Pelliccia added four goals, and Madisyn Hallare, Lauren DiLella, and Shai Goodman all scored one goal, rounding out Oxy's scorers. Marie Whitmore racked up a career-high five assists.
Oxy goalkeeper Neah Bois had a big game in the net with seven saves.
With the score tied at 3-3 just 6 minutes into the game, the Tigers went on a 8-1 run that buried the Panthers before halftime.
It's Oxy's first win over Chapman since 2016.
"It was a team effort today," Oxy head coach Stephanie Mark said. "Neah made some saves that allowed us to get our lead, Sierra had a monster game, Ciara had some big goals when we needed them and our defense started our offense."
Oxy improves to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in SCIAC play.
Chapman falls to 0-2 and 0-2.
