LOS ANGELES — Oxy's defense shined in a 19-7 victory as the Tigers eased past the Johnson & Wales Wildcats in their Tuesday night non-conference match-up at Jack Kemp Stadium. It's Oxy's third double-digit win in only five games this season.
The Tigers defense showed up in a big way again tonight — forcing 22 turnovers and allowing only seven goals on 17 shots. Corinne Bates and Emma Barrow anchored Oxy's back line — each scooping up four ground balls and making life difficult for Wildcat attackers. Neah Bois was brilliant in the cage, making four saves in route to picking up her fourth win of the season.
Madisyn Hallare and Alessandra Pelliccia each found the back of the net three times for Oxy. First year Lauren DiLella continued her hot start to the season with two goals and three assists, and Shai Goodman added two goals and two assists of her own.
Marie Whitmore racked up four assists as Oxy had eight different scorers, with 10 of 19 goals assisted on in a very unselfish offensive display.
Oxy also dominated the draw 22-6, gaining most of the possession.
Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 4-1 on the season and remain 2-1 in the SCIAC, sitting in second place. They will return to conference play on March 7th in Whittier, CA to take on the Whittier Poets.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
