Oxy Edges Pomona in Road Win

LOS ANGELES -- Lauren DiLella scored the game winner with 2:30 to play and the Occidental women's lacrosse team took second place in Round 1 of SCIAC with a 14-13 win at Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday night.

The Tigers overcame a three-goal halftime deficit with the first three goals of the second half and scored four the game's final five goals, dominating the last 10 minutes.

Ciara Byrne led six Oxy attackers who recorded points, finishing with four goals, an assist and four draws. Sierra Slack added three goals and an assist, Alessandra Pelliccia had a pair of goals and four draw controls, DiLella finished with two goals and an assist, Shai Goodman had two goals and Marie Whitmore scored one goal.

Oxy goalkeeper Neah Bois anchored Oxy's defense with six of her seven saves in the second half. Emma Barrow was also big on defense with six ground balls.

Lilly Thomey led the Sagehens with four goals.

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in SCIAC.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action at Colorado College on Saturday at noon. The Tigers will return to league play against at first-place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on April 7.
