Oxy Women's Lax Locks Up No. 2 Seed

LOS ANGELESNeah Bois made 10 saves, Sierra Slack and Ciara Byrne continued to light it up on offense and the Occidental women's lacrosse team secured the No. 2 spot in the SCIAC Tournament with a 15-9 win at Redlands on Wednesday.

Slack was all over the field, finishing with five goals, two assists and seven draw controls. Byrne, the reigning SCIAC Player of the Week, also had five goals.

Alessandra Pelliccia finished with two goals and six draw controls, Lauren DiLella had two goals and an assist, Madisyn Hallare had a goal and Marie Whitmore had an assist. First year midfielder Emma Rogers was solid in the midfield with lots of hustle. 

The Tigers outdrew the Bulldogs 19-7 on the game, dominating possession. 

Oxy trailed 6-5 at halftime and then went on a 5-1 run at the start of the game to take control of the game. 

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 11-5 overall and 7-2 in SCIAC play. With the win, Oxy clinches a home playoff game in the SCIAC Tournament on April 28. The Tigers will host either Chapman or Pomona-Pitzer. 

Next Game: Oxy finishes the regular season with a home game against Whittier at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
