LOS ANGELES — Occidental has named Hannah Khin as its new head women's lacrosse coach.
Khin, who spent three years as Oxy's top assistant coach from 2015-2017, returns to the Tigers after spending the past year at Southwestern University as an assistant coach. She takes over for Stephanie Mark who left the program in August to relocate to the East Coast with family.
"I'm really grateful to return to Occidental College and I'm excited to continue to build on the success the lacrosse program has had," Khin said. "I want to thank Rob Flot and Anahit Aladzhanyan, and especially Coach Mark who has been really supportive and a great mentor to me."
While serving as Oxy's top assistant under Coach Mark, Khin helped lead the team to a 30-24 record, along with a SCIAC Championship game and NCAA Division III Playoffs appearance in 2015.
"I'm delighted that Hannah will be returning to Oxy as our head coach. She quickly emerged as the strongest candidate from a pool of applicants," Oxy Dean of Students and Interim Athletic Director Rob Flot said. "Hannah was impressive during her three-year tenure as an assistant, and she was highly endorsed by our lacrosse team and by staff in athletics."
Khin helped recruit and coach the junior and senior members of Oxy's current team, including goalkeeper Neah Bois, former SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year Alessandra Pelliccia and perennial All-SCIAC defender Emma Barrow.
"I'm excited to be back with members of the Oxy team that were in the program when I was there as an assistant," Khin said. "We want to create a positive student-athlete experience, develop skills and lacrosse knowledge, and be as successful as possible in the classroom and on the field."
As an undergraduate, Khin went to Goucher College in Baltimore, MD. During her four years as a Gopher, she was a four-time Landmark All-Conference selection and her 205 career goals ranks her fifth all-time at Goucher. In 2013, Khin was an IWLCA All-Region selection.
Khin has a B.A. in psychology from Goucher and has earned her master's degree in developmental psychopathology from Durham University (UK). While she was receiving her master's degree, she led her team to the 2014 Northern Premier League championship and was voted MVP by her teammates.
Originally from Portsmouth, NH, Khin led her Portsmouth High team to two consecutive state championships and was named to the NH All-State Team for four straight years. During college, she played for the summer program Global Players, where she played in Amsterdam and Prague, and coached clinics in Germany. She has coached for Lighthouse Lacrosse, a club team based in New Hampshire and Los Angeles Aces Lacrosse Club based in Los Angeles.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
