Oxy Comes Up Short at Pomona


CLAREMONT — The Occidental women's lacrosse team came up short in a SCIAC game at Pomona-Pitzer, falling 17-10 on Saturday.

Oxy started out hot, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first 13 minutes, but then the momentum turned and Pomona-Pitzer went on a 6-1 run to end the half.

At the start of the second half, The Tigers quickly tied the game at 6-6 before the Sagehens made one final 6-0 run in 5 minutes to put the game away.

Madisyn Hallare led Oxy with three goals, two assists, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Shai Goodman and Annie Dolan each had a pair of goals, Isabell Litt had one goal, and Lauren Di Lella and Marie Whitmore each had a goal and an assist.

Alessandra Pelliccia was outstanding on the draw, securing seven on the game.

Maggie Sweeney led the Sagehens with four goals and two assists, and Eleanor Mackey and Sonia Olson added three goals. 

Season Impact: After opening the season with a victory, Oxy falls to 1-1 on the year.

Next Game: Oxy plays its first home game of the season on Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.
