LOS ANGELES — Alessandra Pelliccia had a monster game as the Occidental women's lacrosse team cruised past Redlands, 17-6 at Jack Kemp Stadium on Wednesday.
Pelliccia scored as many goals as the entire Redlands team with six, had two assists, five ground balls, three draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Lauren Di Lella was also terrific on the offensive end of the field, finishing with five goals. Isabella Litt had two goals and an assist, Shai Goodman had a pair of goals, Marie Whitmore had a goal and a game-high three assists, and Madisyn Hallare added one goal and one assist, rounding out Oxy's scorers.
The Tigers were terrific on defense, making life difficult for Redlands. Corinne Bates was a big part of Oxy's tough defense, finishing with six ground balls, along with Emma Rogers, Zoe Edwards and Nicole Litt.
Oxy held the Bulldogs to single digits and all three goalies played, led by Neah Bois, who made five saves.
"I was happy with the way we competed on offense and defense," Oxy head coach Hannah Khin. "We knew that Redlands was going to fight back in the second half so after a slow start we settled into our offense and found our rhythm."
Goodman dominated the draw for Oxy, helping the Tigers secure 16 to Redlands' seven.
Oxy was aggressive going to the cage, earning 16 free position opportunities.
Hanna Morford led Redlands with three goals.
