LOS ANGELES — Alessandra Pelliccia scored a game-high seven goals as the Occidental women's lacrosse team picked up a comfortable SCIAC victory at Whittier, 21-12 on Wednesday night.
Pelliccia, a junior from McClean, Va., is leading the SCIAC in goals (17) and points (21), and is third in draw controls (20).
Pelliccia also had five draw controls and three caused turnovers against the Poets.
Madisyn Hallare had a big game with four goals and eight draw controls, Lauren Di Lella kept her offense sharp with four more goals, Shai Goodman had two goals and six draw controls, Isabella Litt had a pair of goals, Marie Whitmore had a goal and an assist, and Mia Jones scored one goal.
Oxy was up 11-6 by halftime and never led by less than four goals in the second half.
21 goals is Oxy's best offensive total this season.
Morgan Miracle led the Poets with four goals and Lexie Meanor added three.
Season Impact: Oxy improves to 3-2 overall and 3-2 in SCIAC. The Tigers currently sit in third place behind Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer wiht a four-game non-conference stretch ahead of them before returning to conference play on April 6 against Chapman.
Whittier falls to 0-4 and 0-4.
