LOS ANGELES — Shai Goodman and the Occidental women's lacrosse team put together a dominant victory over Chapman, 17-6 at Jack Kemp Stadium on Saturday, opening up a two-game lead on the Panthers for third place in the SCIAC standings.
Goodman looked sharp on the draw and in Oxy's offensive third, creating tons of chances. She finished with three goals, three assists, eight draw controls and three ground balls.
Oxy jumped on the Panthers from the start, going up 9-0 midway through the first half. The Tigers also played the better part of the second half with at least a 10-goal lead and a running clock.
The Tigers escaped Orange with a narrow victory over Chapman, 10-9 earlier this year in the first meeting between the teams.
Led by goalkeeper Neah Bois and Emma Barrow, Oxy's defense didn't allow a goal until 11:07 in the first half, holding Chapman scoreless for nearly 19 minutes. Bois made 12 saves in the cage and Barrow had a pair of caused turnovers.
Marie Whitmore had three goals and two assists, Lauren Di Lella had three goals and one assist, Isabella Litt had a pair of goals, and Annie Dolan had two goals and two assists, rounding out some of Oxy's top offensive performances.
Leah Donnelly led the Panthers with a pair of goals.
