LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's soccer team tied Redlands 1-1 in double overtime in its first SCIAC match of the season at Jack Kemp Stadium on Wednesday.
Redlands scored the game's first goal off the foot of Emily Falla in the 18th minute.
Oxy had a handful of good chances late in the second half and first overtime to win, but came up empty.
Anaise Nugent nearly gave Oxy a 2-1 lead after a steal in the 78th minute. With the Redlands goalkeeper Brittany Dinkins off of her line, Nugent turned and hit a ball toward the goal, but it missed just wide right.
Layla Devlin had a breakaway toward the end of the first overtime period, but her shot was saved by Dinkins.
It was a phsyical and hard-played game by both sides.
The Tigers gave up their first goal of the season after shutting out their first four opponents.
Oxy has recorded 16 shutouts in its last 23 games dating back to last season.

Redlands goes to is 3-2-1 overall and 0-1-1 in SCIAC play.
