LOS ANGELES — Occidental senior forward Meredith Cook was named the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after scoring two goals in a 4-0 rout of La Verne on Saturday.
"Meredith has been out for a good bit of the season with injury so it's great to see her get this award and I'm sure it will be quite a boost for her as we head toward the playoffs," Oxy head coach Colm McFeely said.
Oxy has won five SCIAC games in a row, with one more game to play to determine its seeding in the four-team SCIAC Tournament. If the Tigers beat Cal Lutheran at home at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oxy will host the SCIAC semifinal as the No. 2 seed. If the Tigers tie or lose, they will be headed to No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer on Thursday night.
The Tigers are the defending SCIAC Tournament Champions and last year made their first ever trip to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
The single-elimination tournament determines the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs.
