Mitchell, Moen Lead Oxy to Multi-Dual Win

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in a multi-dual against Caltech and Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.

Both the men's and women's teams beat Caltech and lost to Pomona-Pitzer.

Top Men's Performer: Chase Mitchell had a good overall day, taking second in the 50 free (21.98) and third in the 100 free (49.37). He also swam a leg on Oxy's second-place 200 free relay team with Austin Lashley, Eddie Dabsys and Roee Perry (1:28.65).

Top Women's Performers: Laura Chun led the Oxy women, taking first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.00), and second in the 400 I.M. (4:55.89). Annika Moen won the 400 I.M. (4:53.37).

From the Coach: "It was great to get the whole team back and healthy and it showed in the results. We put together a very good meet and it was great to get a win today against Cal Tech who tied us last year on the men's side," Oxy head coach Steve Webb said. "I am very happy with where our team is at right now, and I am excited to start preparation for championship season pretty soon."

SCIAC Scoring: The SCIAC dual-meet competitions do not impact the final SCIAC standing. 100 percent of a teams final SCIAC standing is determined at the SCIAC Championship meet.

Next Meet: The Tigers are back in action at Chapman on Jan. 28 for a dual meet at 11 a.m.
