LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's swimming and diving team swam through some ugly conditions to beat Redlands 179-118 at Taylor Pool on Saturday.
With a mostly flooded deck and an unusual downpour of rain hitting hard in Eagle Rock, the Tigers were mentally and physically tough enough to grind out the victory.
"It's great to go in and beat a good Redlands team by the margin we did," Oxy head coach Steve Webb said. "The conditions weren't the best, but I was very impressed with how well our team stepped up and still swam well."
Laura Chun, Emily Driscoll, Joan Kronick, Cindy Dong and Siena Lucido all had huge days for Oxy with multiple individual event wins. Chun, Dong and Kronick also swam a leg of Oxy's winning 200 free relay.
The Tigers won every single individual race in the competition.
