LOS ANGELES — The Occidental College men's and women's track and field teams fell to Pomona-Pitzer in a dual meet at Oxy's first home event of the spring season. The women lost 71-55 and the men lost 87-44.
Deanna Dupuy (Newbury Park), Charlie Sauter (Oakland) and Colin Smith (Las Vegas) were the highlight of the meet for the Tigers, running impressive splits in the 4 x 1600-meter relay. Dupuy ran her leg in 5:16 for the women and both Sauter and Smith ran 4:24 for the men.
Dupuy, Danielle Lyons (Lake Forrest Park, Wash.), Jenna Wong (Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Jennifer Zhu(Medford, Ore.) took first in the 4 x 1600, crossing the line in 21:59.58 as a group. Sauter, Smith, Andrew Imthurn (San Diego) and Luis Jochems (Albuquerque, N.M.) won the men's 4 x 1600 with a 17:58.35.
Megan Lang (Longmont, Colo.), Oxy's top female distance runner, won the 800, running 2:22.45.
Stephanie Scamman (Northridge) finished second in the 100 (13.21) and third in the long jump (16-1.5).
Oxy's spring schedule heats up next weekend. The Tigers host one of their signature meets, the Oxy Distance Carnival on March 15 at 6 p.m.
