LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's track and field team is ranked higher than its ever been, coming in at No. 2 in the USTFCCCA National Ranking, released on March 19.
Degnan is the school record holder in the javelin and is looking to score significant points in all four throwing events at the conference level, as well as earning a third consecutive trip to the National Championships.
Newkirk and Porter joined her as national qualifiers last season. Both women are exceptional in the 100m and 200m, and Newkirk is currently the national leader in the long jump.
Yudelevitch isn't far behind Porter and Newkirk in the 100m and 200m. The trio of women currently occupy three of the top 4 times in program history in the 100m.
The Tigers also got a boost in the ranking from Melissa Braun, who is a national qualifier and the second all-time pole vaulter in Oxy history.
Cora Davies is off to a good start to the season in the high jump as the SCIAC's current leader in the event, and distance runners Sabrina Thurber and Kayla Lim look to be in outstanding shape as the Tigers hit the meat of their season.
The poll uses a ratings index based on where athletes rank in their respective events nationally.
