Ball Sets PR in Discus

CLAREMONTErin Ball had a huge personal record in the discus, highlighting the Occidental men's and women's track and field performances this past weekend.

The Tigers competed at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational and the Whittier Twilight meet.

Ball had a best of 125-07 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite which is currently the second-best mark in the conference and ranks fifth all-time in Oxy history.

She wasn't the only thrower who had a big day. Paige Waters had a PR in the javelin with a toss of 118-05, which also ranks second in the SCIAC and is eighth all-time in Oxy program history.

Lena Etoka had a PR in the long jump at 17-03.5 and Naomi Miyamoto ran the second-best 100m hurdles time of her career at 15.49.

Gabi Wayne rounded out the top Oxy women's performers with a pair of PRs at the Whittier Twilight. She ran 5:00.35 in the 1,500m and 19:30.59 in the 5K.

For the men's team, distance standout Thomas Robertson was the highlight, going 15:10.51 for a PR in the 5K.

Oxy is gearing up for SCIAC Dual Meet No. 3 this weekend at Oxy at 11 a.m.
