LOS ANGELES – It wasn't until 19-6 in the third set that Dana Michels (Kirkland, Wash.) made a mistake.

Michels paced the team with seven kills on nine attempts and seven blocks—her only blemish coming in the third set when she committed a service error—and the Occidental College volleyball team cruised to a 25-5, 25-14, 25-6 victory against West Coast Baptist College on Tuesday night at Rush Gymnasium.

The Tigers only recorded seven kills in the first set, but took advantage of the Eagles' 12 attacking errors. Madyson Cassidy (Arcadia) served for 13 straight points in the set that put the Tigers up 21-4, and Oxy (18-8) used the run to close out the set.

In the third set, it was Emily Repsher (Sacramento) who served for a big run that pushed Oxy to victory. After a Michels kill that gave the Tigers a 4-3 lead, Repsher served for 11 straight points that put the match away from the reach for the Eagles.

Stephanie Gann (Tacoma, Wash.) and Kasey Rose (Los Olivos) combined for 12 kills on 20 attempts. Logan Boyer-Hayse (Boulder, Colo.) posted four, and Alyssa Mort (Tucson, Ariz.), Aly Fritz (South Pasadena), and Megan Olayinka (Corvallis, Ore.) each added two for the Tigers.

The Tigers also continued to play solid defense and recorded a total of 12 blocks as a team. Fritz and Olayinka had three. Mort, Gann, and Rose blocked two attempts each.

Jessie Altman (La Jolla) dished out 22 assists for the Tigers.

The Tigers finish the four-game midseason non-conference stretch with a record of 3-1. Oxy can separate themselves from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for the fourth-and-final SCIAC playoff spot with a win at CMS on Wednesday.
