LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's water polo team won its second game in a row in convincing fashion, beating PSU-Behrend 15-8 at Taylor Pool on Monday afternoon.
Monica Chernoff scored a game-high five goals, Abigail Lavold continued her hot streak on offense with four goals, Michela Imperiale had two goals and two assists, Lori Berberian had two goals and two steals, Emily Kapins had one goal, and Claudia Oppermann had a goal, two assists and three drawn exclusions.
Lavold is now up to 14 goals in her last five games.
Daniela Rios led PSU-Behrend with four goals and three assists, Lauren Wood added three goals and Allison McClure had a goal, an assist, four drawn exclusions and three steals.
Oxy got up early 6-2 after the first quarter and widened its margin to 8-3 by halftime.
The Tigers were 5 of 6 on power plays and shot 15 of 23 on field goals.
It is the second time Oxy has beaten PSU-Behrend this season. Oxy won the first match up at Washington and Jefferson College on Feb. 24, 16-8.
After falling to three NCAA Division I opponents on Saturday and Sunday, the Tigers beat Grove City 9-6 on Sunday afternoon to close out the Claremont Convergence tournament.
Season Impact: Oxy gets back to .500 overall at 5-5.
PSU-Behrend falls to 0-7 on the year.
