OBERLIN, Ohio — The Occidental women's cross country team had three runners in the top 50 and all five scorers in the top 70 against some very good competition at the Oberlin Inter Regional Rumble on Saturday morning.
The Tigers placed 8th of 32 teams, including some of the highest ranked squads in the country.
"I'm really proud of how both teams performed today," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "We raced confidently and achieved our goals of beating some teams that had been nationally ranked."
Sabrina Thurber led the way for the Tigers, placing 29th overall at 22:28 in the 6K. Lydia Montgomery was Oxy's second-best finisher in 38th at 22:42.9, Kayla Lim was 41s at 22:48.3, Lilah Abrams placed 53rd at 23:01.2 and Catherine Teasdale was 69th at 23:09.9.
All eight Oxy women who competed ran lifetime bests.
Next Meet: Oxy hits the meat of its season, beginning with the SCIAC Championships on Nov. 2 at Prado Park. The NCAA West Regional is Nov. 16 and then the NCAA Divsion III Nationals are in Louisville, Ky. on Nov. 23.
