Oxy Women's Cross 3rd at SCIAC Meet

CHINO — The Occidental women's cross country team ran well on Saturday, finishing in third place at the SCIAC Championship meet at Prado Park.

Oxy was only behind top-15 ranked squads Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer.

Sabrina Thurber and Kayla Lim led the way with All-SCIAC performances by finishing in the top 20. Thurber was fourth overall, running 22:28.7 for a First Team honor, and Lim was 12th at 22:57.2 for a Second Team nod. 

"We're very proud of Sabrina and Kayla for getting All-Conference and we are also very happy to get third today behind two highly-ranked teams," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said.

Lydia Montgomery was Oxy's third-best in 21st place at 23:25.1, followed by Lucinda Kolpa in 23rd at 23:32.1, and Gabriella Wayne in 35th at 24:10.3.

The Overall winner was Lila Cardillo of Pomona-Pitzer, who finished in 21:40.

The Tigers will now shift their focus to the NCAA Division III West Regional at Pomona-Pitzer on Nov. 16.
